The session fee for a registered psychologist is $220.00 per one hour (50-60 minute) session as suggested by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta 2023-2024 Recommended Fee Schedule. The session fee for a registered provisional psychologist in $200.00 per one hour (50-60 minute) session. Clinic policies

What is the cancellation and no show policy?

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. As such, we require 48 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 48 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee, which is the same cost as the full appointment fee. Please note that most insurance coverage does not pay for late cancellation and no show fees.

How long are sessions scheduled for?

Sessions are normally scheduled for 1 hour. This typically includes 50 minutes of therapy work and the last 10 minutes for closing the session, including scheduling future appointments, completing of billing, and clinician documentation following the session. Alternate appointment lengths (ie. 90 minute sessions) may be arranged, please discuss this with your therapist if you are interested in an alternate session length.

What if I need to reach my therapist outside of a session?

The therapy model that our office uses is not set up for emergent or crisis support. If you are seeking mental health crisis support outside of sessions you can contact the Alberta Mental Health Crisis Line. Scheduling, cancellations, and changes to appointments can be completed online or though email or phone. It is recommended to avoid using email for communications aside from scheduling due to potential confidentiality implications. Learn more about our Communications Policy.

Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Your privacy and confidentiality are crucial aspects of the counselling relationship. All information shared is confidential aside from a few specific circumstances which are required by law. These specific exceptions to this confidentiality, include:

  • If there is risk of imminent danger to myself or to another person

  • If there is a reasonable suspicion that a child or elder or any vulnerable person is being abused or neglected or is at risk of such abuse

  • If the court subpoenas information to be used in court

  • If there is a work related injury, including a psychological injury, WCB requires that the workplace injury is reported

How many sessions will I need to attend?

The short answer is, it depends. Counselling is intended to focus the specific goals that you would like to address, therefore the goals and your progress in therapy determine how long you can expect the treatment to take. Short-term therapy is considered around 6 sessions whereas longer term therapy may be spread out over months.
