Cindy Wilhelm, Clinical Counsellor in Edmonton

Cindy Wilhelm is a Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a therapist at Mendable Psychology. Cindy provides individual adult mental health therapy both in-person and online across Alberta.  She comes to the field of mental health with a background in Human Resources and has a special interest in working with women through career and parenting life transitions.

“I believe in the power of transformation and personal growth, and am passionate about helping clients navigate life changes and outgrow what no longer serves them.”

I work with professionals who are dealing with milestone challenges, career changes, workplace struggles, or just that feeling that something needs to change.

With having 20 years experience in human resources and now as a training as a therapist, I understand the mix of personal and work pressures that can build up. Many of the people I work with want something different from how they grew up – maybe a better work-life balance, stronger relationships, or a life that fits their own values instead of old expectations. I’m also mindful of how culture shapes our choices, challenges, and the way we see ourselves, so I provide a space that honours your background and helps you explore what matters most to you.

Whether you’re feeling burned out, stuck in a job or even stuck in a box, we’ll figure out what matters most to you and build the tools and confidence you need to move forward in a way that feels right.

Q: Why did you choose this profession?

A: Working in the world of Human Resources for the past 15+ years has inspired me to elevate how I can support people to thrive and live their best lives. I am passionate about psychological safety in the workplace and how that translates into our personal lives. Helping people to cope with their personal challenges to thrive in their professional lives and vice versa motivates me to learn and grow as a therapist.

Q: What is your go-to self-care activity?

A: Solo nature walks! For me, it is a form of mindfulness. I observe my surroundings and sensations with no judgment or opinion attached and allow myself to just experience what is happening in the here and now. It is very grounding and helps me practice how to stay present in my daily grind.

Q: What can you expect from a session with me?

A: I am a very laid-back and informal person. I strive to create a space where you can show up as your unfiltered self. I will take your lead in terms of what is important to you to discuss at that moment while bringing new perspectives and challenging your thoughts for deeper reflection. As a member of the BIPOC community and my Human Resources work in advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion, I embrace different cultural perspectives.
