Registered Psychologist

Laurelle St. Jean

My passion in counselling is forming a connection where people feel accepted and challenged to grow in new and meaningful ways. It is a privilege to be a part of the brave and vulnerable experience of unpacking struggles and working together to build new and lighter ways forward. I view counselling as an opportunity to help people cope with the normal and extraordinary challenges of life, lessen suffering, and settle more comfortably within the present moment.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and I am a registered psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I enjoy working with individual adults and teenagers over the age of fifteen with concerns which include anxiety, women’s issues, depression, self-esteem, body image, and relationships. While I have training as a generalist, I have advanced training in the area of trauma.

I am skilled at using a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma and body-based therapies, and EMDR. The approach is tailored based on the goals and preferences of the client in order to best fit each individual. All the therapy I do is evidence-based with an emphasis on empowering clients to cultivate their innate strength and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

I am born and raised in Alberta and have lived in the Grande Prairie area and been working in healthcare since 2014. I enjoy spending my free time with my rescue dogs and cats, trying out new recipes, and curling up near a fireplace or campfire depending on the weather. I am an avid learner and appreciate staying up to date on new research and making lots of time for continuing education.

Registered Social Worker (MSW)

Eleah Peters

I was born and raised in Northern Alberta and find that I have a deep love for the North and those who call it home. Over the years I have had the privilege of travelling and calling many different places home. I have recently come back to the North and I am excited to offer services to those all throughout Alberta. When I am not working you will find me baking sourdough, reading a new book, or engaging in good conversation and quality time with my loved ones.

I hold a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Calgary in Clinical Social Work Practice. In addition, I am registered with the Alberta College of Social Work and remain in good standing with them.

I have a unique passion for work with teenagers and young adults, however, I enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I have advanced training in the area of trauma, in particular, sexual violence and childhood trauma. I am also a generalist and work with many other concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image, grief, and loss.

My practice is evidence-based; I utilize components of cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical-behaviour therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I operate from a person-in-environment lens with the understanding that our environment, both past, and present, often heavily influences our circumstances and concerns.

In order to ensure best practice, my therapeutic approach is personalized based on your goals and preferences. I want to build on the strengths and skills you already possess, and it is my hope that through therapy I can help empower and encourage you to see your own strength and continue to grow in your abilities.
