Mendable Psychology and Integrative Health is a boutique clinic situated in Grande Prairie and online across Alberta. We work with adults and teenagers over the age of fifteen using evidenced-based approaches. We are passionate about health, both mental and physical. Anxiety

Anxiety serves an important function, it keeping us aware and safe.  Sometimes however, anxiety can extend beyond what is proportionate to the situation and create problems in our personal or professional lives. Too much anxiety can lead us to limit the things we choose to engage in and miss out or endure them with excessive distress. Anxiety can be perceived in our thoughts, behaviours, and physical sensations. Fortunately there are effective treatments for anxiety; if you think you might have an anxiety disorder it is important to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider.

Trauma

When we experience abuse or other traumatic events our brains physically change. Such experiences can make it hard to feel safe and we may perceive neutral situations as threatening. We may feel as though we are stuck in a ‘fight or flight’ or collapse mode when we respond to everyday interactions. Trauma specific therapy approaches can treat these concerns, and can do so in a way that is gradual enough to tolerate. With a therapist skilled in the treatment of trauma or abuse you can work through past events and develop a strong sense of empowerment.

Body image concerns and disordered eating are issues that many people. Sometimes these problems can feel all consuming and tend cause individuals to engage in behaviours that inadvertently keep the problems going. Counselling approaches have been developed to specifically address various types of eating disorders and body image concerns, in order to help you get back to living and allow you to focus on the things that matter most.
